It comes out next week in the UK. I've already ordered my copy! BIS decided to give a bonus to the UK, as so many copies were sold over here. It's a bit of a surprise to all the stores, who are having trouble preparing for the release (sticking DVD cases out with OFP1 covers on & a sticky label over the title saying "OFP 2 pre order"). Sorry, you other people of the world. I suppose you'll just have to wait!.. -Psy|W

Since OFP2 is based on the UT 2004 engine, it eliminates all our physics problems, as well. And of course, MCAR becomes pretty obselete. What a shame. Still, all of us in England will be playing the "Flashpoint: 2340" campaign next week... -Psy|W

[glow=red,2,300]Aaaaaaagh![/glow] BASTARDS! Then again, I suppose it's good in a way, since we'll be able to do more with the original OFP, before our work becomes utterly obselete... -Psy|W

Well, I hope so, as the original line-up for E3 did include OFP 2... *frightened, as do not know wether this is blasphemy or not!* At least according to some gaming pages (trustworthy ones)... But maybe that was just a missprint...

Well I'll be damned OFP2 is now 'Armed Assault'... Check the www.flashpoint2.com/ and click the TV on and change channels... Some screenies, apparently 'the real deal': Looking good...

BIS have been playing mind-games with the community, among that was to release a name, Armed Assault... Now, check out this threadOFP is getting a face lift called Armed Assault... I actually guessed this was the case but never said that anywhere so I can't prove it Would have been so nice to say to all those 'conspirators' at BI Forums: "I told you so...".. ;D What I understood it is merely a graphical and maybe physical update, so we may still need the MCAR with that.. Me hopes they give new scripting functions too.. And what i said about OFP2 in that thread sounds so promising that I will not be able to sleep at all before they release the damn game...

me hopes not !
me hopes yes ! Well, probably Armed Assault is based on current VBS, so we probably will get new scripting commands. As for multiple turrets and missile on cars and boats, I hope they have patched this too. Anyway I'd be happy even if only the AI has been tweaked (made more intelligent), and probably they updated multiplayer code, which sucks, atm. I'm curious to know the specs of the machine on which it will run. I guess that some people still using 1 Ghz processor to play OFP will have to change their rig to play Armed Assault. I believe this game is almost ready and could be a good way to wait for OFP2 (and will give BIS some cash to continue to work on it). Let's hope they find a distributor fast, otherwise we can get troubles purchasing that game, but at least I hope they don't make it like Steam for HL2 (with a 64kb connection downloading the game and enabling it would be a real pain...)

Well, most likely since afaik VBS1 has no missile firing car class sp why would this... And why not? We would be 'out of job' if it didn't need MCAR ;D Anyway, what I understood was that it's more of a graphical as well as physics engine face-lift... I doubt they would have re-written parts of the engine to include multiturrets etc... I think they have just learned a lot more coding in optimizing etc sense during their XBox developement since you really really need to do some serious optimizing to get OFP to run on 64mbs of RAM... It probably uses DirectX9 too so it should be prettier than the original... Which really doesn't interest me at all... If they have included the same extra scripting commands as in VBS1 I would a very happy camper But, what this means that there is no way to get a life before OFP2 hits the fan... EDIT: sounds like MCAR would still be needed in Armed Assault: "Graphics look outdated".. what the hell does that matter... All the graphically impressive and awesome games have (and will for a long time, until OFP2 ) always lacked the soul OFP has... (in it's genre, Thief is of course not icluded in any bad mouthing ;D ;D... except for Thief 2 maybe ;D)
