Excuse same post in BI Forums also .... Hi HateR_Kint, Very nice work from the MCAR team. Got a couple of questions you might like to answer; 1- Have you seen or heard any reason to suggest that your type(s) of weapons won't work on a boat/ship ? 2- If its maybe possible on a ship, will an existing turret cause conflict with an added MCAR missile "turret" ? 3- Can your project be simplified to fire a simple self guiding BIS (normally hand launched) AA missile (ie from a car or ship) instead of your custom missiles ? 4- Seems the M151 is MP compatable, will the technique used to get this likely work with the missile systems you completed (in the future) ? Im new to O2 and looking to revamp a ship or two to include a missile launch system. From the various documents you have released it *sounds* like the MCAR system could be applied to a ship (it has cargo proxies) but I don't want to waste my inexperienced time trying Even if the limit is a forward-upward facing missile rack, then I'd still consider it viable if the BIS AA missile could be fired. Gnat: 1) MCAR will work on boats, as well as any kind of vehicle (maybe even men, not tried anyway...) 2) no, but then you'll have two turrets (or a turret firing both missiles and shells, like the Avenger AA humvee ?) 3) yes, but it will look crappy cause it won't elevate 4) yes, but we'd prefer a different solution, more MP friendly (no lag)
But if I was you, I'd try out, since the boats stay almost horizontal anytime, the multiple turret system developed by Col. Klink and Unnamed, cause you could just use a tank or apc class vehicle as the turret, and attach it to the boat. You may give a look at the tank M2 machine gun turret too, just to see how's done. Search in these pages and you'll find out.
This of course if you don't want the missile to follow some fancy trajectory before hitting the target.

So you mean if I createVehicle a missile OFP starts automatically guiding it?? This is a bit hard to believe...

oops: I misunderstood. I didn't mean that, I believe only Gnat intended to use a BIS missile, like the maverick or the strela, not that this missile will guide itself to the target. Sorry, this doesn't happen. I read it in a haste: if one understand badly, he answers worstly...

.... yeh you did eventually answer that question Sa8Gecko .... Yes I was meaning JUST using standard internal BIS launch/guide/hit code. I was hoping that you guys just made missiles for the fun of it and that normal BIS missiles still worked ........... but thats not the case as it seems, hence why you all went to so much trouble. As for the MP code, I will be attempting to fix the problems, because I'll only consider the project worthy if it works with low lag on a server. I do code MP (really special mission stuff only), but I haven't taken much notice yet of the MCAR code, to see it there some easy gains to be made. I suspect better people than me had a go, but then again, it can't hurt to look. Before these questions I had worked on the using the M2 stuff (see pic, not textured) but that was when I discovered my TOWs were useless . .

Hey, that looks nice... Hopefully you get that baby working... And sure, feel free to do what ever you like in the code because it's imperative to get it MP compatible... Otherwise MCAR is quite futile AddOn

because (I think, excuse me if it's not the case) the turret is the MAIN boat turret (the default BIS), and that cannot fire missiles by default, like cars: you have to use MCAR. OR, just replace this turret with an external one, like the M2 on the abrams: making it a tank class or static should solve your problems, without too much efforts.
