Remember, before you even put one unit down in the mission editor, design the mission.

Remember Psychic Command Directive No 1:

Prime Directive: A good editor thinks first of the mission, then when the unexpected happens he returns to the mission, and when all else fails, he remembers the mission.

Since the unexpected happens on a regular basis in OFP editing, it's always good to bear this in mind!
